woodland walks
Wonderful diffused sun green tree-lined trails, but golden-leaf clues lie on the ground; the next storm there might be more leaves on the floor than on branches. Get out and enjoy them now.

earth curves
Meon Valley, Hampshire, England.
We still have great hillwalking weather so late in the year here in the valley, it’s just perfect.

apples and pears
I’m lucky to have lots of trees in the garden, half of them are fruit trees. In the sunlight they’re not just fruit, they’re nature-art popping with colour. Apples and pears have been cultivated for thousands of years.

Nice idea but from what I can see if anyone sits on that it's only a matter of time before the armrest pulls off and someone has an accident.
East Head, West Sussex, England.
Deliberately left unmanaged, one of the last surviving stretches of natural coastline in West Sussex, with shifting sand dunes, salt marsh and flowing tides. #geography #nature #wild #photography d0771/Fe100gx
rocky reading retreat
Reading in peace; climbing down to a sandy cove and hiding in the rocks, a Cornish solution.

falling off the patio
I live in a village just up the road from the sea. If I fall off my patio I fall onto a fox-food covered wet lawn, if I fell off my patio here I’d fall into the sea. That’s why I live in the village – it’s just safer.

the peepshow
Skilfully examines the racism, sexism, economic privation and class prejudices that permeated postwar England.

dreaming of fish
Being a vegetarian I hardly ever dream of fish.
I dream of chocolate.

South Parade Pier, Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England.
The first seaside piers were built in England in the early 19th century, their heyday the boom in seaside resorts during the Victorian era.
This one opened in 1879, it's still active with its fishing deck, children’s funfair & live music.
cycle boy : Chichester, West Sussex, England.
The ‘cycle series’ continues; I couldn’t resist this one with teal co-ordinated helmet, backpack, bicycle, and door. Typical for Chichester, even for adults, this bike has no chain; it helps to prevent the residents from escaping.

walking the seawalls : Bosham, West Sussex, England.
That strange pleasure walking the seawalls when the tide’s in and the village seems to turn into an island.

The Grand Staircase : Petworth House (17th century mansion), Petworth, West Sussex, England.
Massive windows allow the light to illuminate huge murals by Louise Laguerre (1663–1721) featuring the Greek mythology stories of Prometheus and Pandora.

homecoming : Hengistbury Head, Dorset, England.
Hengistbury Head is a headland jutting into the English Channel between Bournemouth and Mudeford. With its bronze age barrows and its iron age fort It’s an archaeology site of international importance, it’s also a nature reserve. #photography
Bognor Regis Pier, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, England.
Built in 1865 at a cost of £5,000, it was originally 1000 feet long with a pavilion and landing stage at its seaward end. Wear and tear and three major storms have reduced the pier to its current length of 300 feet.
replacing groynes : Hill Head, The Solent, Hampshire, England.
Groynes are designed to reduce longshore drift, the movement of sand along the coast caused by wave action. Many beaches wouldn’t exist if they didn’t have groynes.
