So, I've created a list of people and entities I find useful to follow for T1D news without too much addiction to corporate media. My list can be found at bsky.app/profile/did:...

Mamdani: "I just want to speak directly to the president. I will not be a mayor like Mayor Adams who will call you to stay out of jail. I won't be a disgraced governor like Andrew Cuomo who will call you to ask how to win this election. I can do those things on my own."

They've been arguing in court repeatedly that there are no plans for a shutdown and that they will honor all statutory obligations.
Not sure what a legal system does with a government that simply isn't credible.

Alas, this only works for Type 2 diabetes where insulin-producing beta cells remain (T1D is an autoimmune disease which destroys endogenous insulin production, thereby necessitating exogenous insulin replacement therapy). But the science could help transplanted islets to thrive.

While there is some very limited domestic coffee production (notably from the State of Hawaii, as well as from certain territories such as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands), the reality is that coffee typically must be imported from places with climates suitable for coffee bean production.

Tariffs have rapidly increased the price of coffee—a drink with almost no nutritional value and lots of functional substitutes. Yet coffee may also be the one thing Americans can’t live without, @elcush.bsky.social writes:
The Drink That Americans Won’t Give Up Without a Fight
Coffee has almost no nutritional value and lots of substitutes. It’s also, apparently, too important to lose.

What Trump is doing is unconstitutional—his own party knows it.
A political graphic with a dark background and a title that reads: "Even Republican governors are speaking out against Trump's use of the National Guard." The image features photos of two Republican governors and their quotes in white boxes:

Left Box (Gov. Kevin Stitt (R-OK)): "We believe in the federalist system—that’s states’ rights. Oklahomans would lose their mind if Pritzker in Illinois sent troops down to Oklahoma."

Right Box (Gov. Phil Scott (R-VT)): "I don’t think the military should be used against our own people. In fact, it’s unconstitutional."

The bottom of the image features portraits of the two governors.

Trump claims ICE’s reign of terror in Chicago is targeting the “worst of the worst.”

But out of the 1,000 undocumented immigrants that have swept up, the agency has only cited 10 men with a criminal background.

Don’t believe his lies for a second.

Trump says migrants drive violent crime in Illinois. But ICE can’t find many violent criminals.
Masked ICE agents and other federal forces showed up in Chicago to go after gangsters. Instead, they keep catching people who are just living their lives.
