Welcome to the weirdest week of the holiday decorating season, wherein 1/3 of the neighbors are still rocking Halloween decorations, another 1/3 immediately replaced them on 11/1 with Fall/Thanksgiving decorations, and a handful have already moved onto putting up Christmas decorations.

Conservatives' suggestion that comedy shows need to add right-leaning staff writers to make their jokes more "fair" completely misunderstands what's happening. The problem is isn't writer bias; comedy writers will happily skewer ANYONE for doing something dumb. See, e.g., SNL's treatment of Biden...

Also anyone on the right who thinks Kimmel's cancellation is fine because it's just "owning a Hollywood lib" should understand that it doesn't just punish Kimmel, it puts an entire staff/crew out of a job, and, despite what Fox News tells you, plenty of below-the-line crew types are Trump supporters

If there's any silver lining to the ABC/Kimmel debacle, I'm hoping that it's that it helped some people finally understand why capitalism's amoral emphasis on placing shareholder value on an altar above all else is not a great tenet on which to base a democracy.

Not that the existence of Elon Musk doesn't definitively prove this every day, but if you need it here's another great reminder that the fact someone is very rich or is a high-level corporate executive doesn't mean they're smart.
