It’s even more extreme than that if you want full self-sufficiency. The average US diet requires ~2 acres of land (cropland + pasture)/person/year. So a family of 4 would need ~8 acres.

(It’s less if you eat more plants/fewer animal proteins than avg American, but it’s still a looooot of land.)
On Threads, the usual suspects are telling ppl about to lose SNAP benefits to just start a garden. As a gardener, I had to laugh. You need at LEAST an acre of land to feed a family of 4. Start-up costs are enormous. But yes, subsistence farming on the balcony of your rental apartment is the answer
I may finally bust out the watercolors. I've had a drawing in my watercolor book waiting for paint for months now. T_T And it was always meant as a quick warm up. T_____T
Gonna be a stormy weekend. I think it'll be a good weekend to make a bone broth, watch Over the Garden Wall and do some arts.

Almost every hardcore conservative I have ever met has zero concept of the infrastructure that allows them to live the way they do. Not a one. It's invisible to them.
one thing thats kinda crazy to get your head around is not that the musk and thiel masters of the universe are ungrateful for the vast public infrastructure, public funding of research, and robust systems of laws and rules that made their wealth possible. it's that theyre too dumb to understand it
I mean, a formal art education isn't necessary at all, it's more about networking. XD
Too late. The visions compelled my to get an illustration degree. I am beyond help (although I do not art as often as I should).

my most lib opinion: so long as we have law enforcement officers, they should probably be able to pass an exam about what the law allows them to do without consulting notes
New ICE recruiting methods have resulted in half of this group of absolute winners failing AN OPEN BOOK TEST
4, but I know most people would rank me higher.

I am literally just standing here! XD
5, because while you are smol, you're a really good artist.

Yeah, but a lot of stories are like that. Heck, even a lot of kids stuff works that way. But most people can remain objective with those.

Australia's humpback whales are doing so well that their population is expected to reach carrying capacity and plateau in the near future--they have not just reached but exceeded pre-whaling numbers. For this to happen with such a long-lived, slow-reproducing species is near miraculous. #goodnews
These whales were hunted to 150 individuals. Now there are 50,000 of them
Once hunted almost to extinction, the population of humpback whales currently migrating down Australia's east coast has bounced back and is now greater than before whaling.

TBH, I think it's the sorting. People have a deep, primal need to be sorted into groups and form (or join) tribes. It isn't enough to find your people, you must be assigned one based on the judgment of a magic talking hat.
One of my bosses is a die hard Harry Potter fan and I just. Like, I'm a giant nerd, I GET IT. But Harry Potter adults are one another level of delusion and denial.
