Last month, @theguardian.com framed this historical event project the same way; minimizing the years of archival work, the interviews etc it took to be able to do this.

Instead ‘AI solved this historical problem!’

As someone who has spent the last 6 years harping on about how great #medieval probate accounts are, this is very exciting. Soon to be followed by my edition of the accounts of the executors of Sir Ralph Verney, also with @yorkisthistory.bsky.social - it's a great time to be interested in wills!

The @royalhistsoc.org is running a charitable donation campaign to fund the research of historians who lack support. The number of applications we're seeing is way up. I've been very lucky to have a career as a historian, I've donated, and I think this Christmas you should too. Pay it forward.

#OTD 1487, Elizabeth of York was crowned Queen of England. Though it is often claimed that Elizabeth Boleyn served in Elizabeth of York's household, I wasn't able to find any evidence of her at court before 1509.

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

I've been thinking a lot lately about Elizabeth Boleyn's ledger stone in the Garden Museum. It is on the floor of the gift shop without a sign marking its presence, whereas others buried in the church (for instance, Elias Ashmole) have small stands noting their places of burial.
