You know your therapist is a good fit when your camera is jacked for your Zoom session and she says, "I'm so bummed I won't get to see your nails!" 'cause she knows your nails are a form of self-expression and this week, they're yellow and pink for #tourdefrancefemmes.

Chomping into the blood orange wedge, I realized that perhaps an easy giveaway of my class status growing up is that I eat my cocktail garnish. Why waste it? (I won't touch toxic red Maraschino cherries, though. I married up.) #nowaste

Maybe it's 'cause I'm a writer, but I love it when this comes up: "An AI Overview is not available for this search." It feels like I came up with an exceptional one. #writerlife

I just came across the word "enjambment" in @maggiesmithpoet.bsky.social book *Dear Writer* and I'm ecstatic. It's a thing I've noticed in poems but never understood the rules or reasons for. I'm about to be enlightened, my friends! #writerlife

I just noticed that on the back of a photo of myself from when I was three and wearing cowboy boots, is written, "Sonya's boots were found in a garbage can, which didn't alter her love for them."

Next week is 5 years since George Floyd was murdered. On Tuesday, I listened to @newsbysamuels.bsky.social talk about the process of writing his (co-authored) Pulitzer Prize-winning book, His Name Is George Floyd. What a truly meaningful experience to learn of Floyd's *life.* What a story. #floyd

As someone estranged from her mom and with no kids, I've had to discover the way to celebrate mom's day: Brunch! How did i not know this sooner?! I'm not a bruncher otherwise, but now I brunch the heck outta this day and it's lovely. 'Cause I'm the proud mama of two thriving houseplants!

Anyone else get more emotional when you're getting over a bad cold, have a #freshtattoo, and it's a cloudy+rainy day?

Oh. Wow. Turning Point: The Bomb And The Cold War on netflix is the history lesson I never had. So very much insight on Then and Now. Catch it while it's still there. #turningpoint

Today I've discovered the beautiful book Diary of a Young Naturalist by Irish writer Dara McAnulty, an autistic nature writer. I figure that's 'nuff said. You'll know if it's something you're interested in. @milkweed.bsky.social #irishwriters #naturewriting #autisticauthors

I'm feeling down today. I know social media isn't a tool for these moments but I found myself here nonetheless and you know what? This may be the first time scrolling on social media has cheered me up. That, my friends, is the power of community.

How hard could reintroducing GROOVY into our vernacular be? I wrote it in a card to my 9-yr-old niece. Then I mentioned it to a 30-something staff person at a groovy restaurant. He said, “I’m from the plains of northern Minnesota. It’s gonna take a lot for me to break out of that box.”😞 #groovy

"Let's be careful not to fall or break anything 'cause I'm sure your mom won't be thrilled that we're rollerskating and throwing axes in the living room." (Fav line of mine from my visit with my nine-year-old grandniece. We play well together. 😄)

I've discovered that querying an agent is almost exactly like applying for a job. Query letter=cover letter. Both attempt to express enthusiasm in a professional but voicy tone while feeling somewhat insecure and clinging to optimism. Waiting, hoping to hear that your life's passion is enough.

Pro tip: As soon as you finish Season 2 of The Diplomat (ntflx), start over with Season 1 to catch the many, many things you missed the first time around. And then watch Season 2 again.
