Continuing a tradition since 2021, here's some of my favourites from the line-up for How I Paint Things this year.

If by bizarre chance at Christmas you're short on ways to spend the cash in your pockets, don't mind me rattling the tip jar: ko-fi.com/sonicsledgeh...

Yep! Skeleton Bone primer, drybrush of Bony Spikes, then a wash. No faff where it isn't needed.

Poor wee mite. We'll be rooting for him!

If the tiny piece of fluff I'd primed to the miniature hadn't been right on his beard, I might actually have been really bloody annoyed...!

Working on a 'Mooks in Minutes' idea, trying to find the fastest way to paint the WGA Operators while still looking decent. Think that'll work!

Italian Wars - The Black Band marched into Italy in 1515 in time to fight alongside King Francis I at the Battle of Marignano, where, defending the ditch and supported by artillery, they recoiled from the attacking Swiss, but did not break. #28mm #ItalianWars #medieval

Do it or don't. They're your toys. Does it look better? Sure. Do I do it? No. I'm sick of hearing about it. "But how do the bullets come out?" See, not being six, I can accept that my guys aren't firing real guns.

There is at this point no comment, demand, or petty gripe I find more tiresome than this old chestnut. That's even going up against 'HURR HURR ULTRASMURFS,' so you know I'm done with it.

The humble Vindicator (as humble as a demolisher cannon toting tank can be)

When we started building up our forces for Tale of Four on WH+ the idea of a host of Vindicators rolling up the board just seemed right for the Death Guard. It's rugged, brutal and so satisfying!

299. Long John Silver with cutlass and peg leg. One of Captain Hood's Crew, from North Star’s On The Seven Seas range. Almost all done in Army Painter paints, me old shiverin’ matey!

Oh for sure, it's not going to be cheap, depending on what filament you find. But the durability and weight is what sells me over MDF sheets. Honestly, the GW battle boards might actually end up cheaper. Sure as hell faster!

I just went in on it, myself. I'm not affiliated or sponsored in any way, just thought this was a super neat idea.

I am an absolute sucker for that classic, solid green flocked style. Plus it'd be nice to have some tiles done in that style for Napoleonics!

HERE'S SOME GREEN- wait what's Friday's prompt this time, Tuesday? Help me out, here!

Now this looks cool!

They do point out a 6x4' table with bells and whistles would take almost 13 days... but once you've done it, it's done. I love the idea of something modular that'll overhang a table and support itself safely, too.

"So what do you do?"
"Oh, I paint miniatures. Y'know, like Warhammer and similar."
"...Warhammer?"
"Yeah, yeah - and historical stuff as well."
"What, those WWI things?"
"...yyyeeesss?"

I have never felt both so called out and like I'm about to be exorcised.

While finishing off random miniatures from the shelf that've been sitting there for longer than a year, I primed and painted this Kiwi MG team for my 2NZ Division force in a couple hours.

It'd be nice to have it painted better, but it's better painted! 😂 I know what I'm about.

I dunno what to tell you, folks. It's not a boast or a challenge to anybody else's way of doing things, it's literally "there is a leak somewhere in my brainpan and if something isn't finished the day I start it, it goes away to planet Zarg."
sonicsledgehammer.bsky.social
Oh, for sure. I fully appreciate there's people doing much, much better work than I am as well which - short of a time machine - would be impossible. 😂
sonicsledgehammer.bsky.social
Oofh. I can imagine - there's a few bits in my collection that carry the memory of a specific time or event with them, and that's not always good.

People that can do some work on a miniature then put it down and come back to finish painting on a whole other day are incredible in my mind. I can't do it. I literally have to plan paint schemes and methods such that I can finish what I'm doing in whatever time I've got.
sonicsledgehammer.bsky.social
Yeah, there's a few bits that definitely need to be included. Benches, maybe a couple of lamp posts, stuff like that; scatter scenery is on the to-do list, but I like the idea of framing the fountain properly.
