Just finished “Careless People”. What a breathtakingly dim group of dorks!
Buying this book based on this thread alone. I imagine many people will do the same, if they haven’t already. What a magnificent self-own by Meta!
I had not heard of this book but now I am going to read it tonight.

I deleted all the social media apps from my phone while I worked on my Disney fellowship application. Now that it’s in, I’m considering extending this hiatus. Despite a few backslides, I generally felt better using them less. A fairly obvious conclusion, but a personally important one nonetheless!

On April 24, ICE agents broke into a home of a family of US citizens in Oklahoma. The family repeatedly said we are citizens, you have the wrong people. ICE terrorized the family, ripped apart the house.

It's not "other people" that this is happening to. It's us. Open your eyes. Wake the hell up.

The only criticism I have to offer for the most recent episodes of “The Studio” is that there’s not enough Kathryn Hahn. Her character is truly iconic and deserves her own spin-off, “The Studio: Marketing”, co-starring Dewayne Perkins and Nick Kroll.

Holy moly. It takes incredible strength to take such a traumatizing moment and turn it into something more, in service of helping those just like him. What an extraordinary human being.
reading horrorstories of deporting babies got me wondering what Elian Gonzalez is up to these days. If you don't remember this, it was a hotbutton case that helped lock a lot of Cuban Americans into Fox News ... Anyway, looks like he's a politician now.
Elian Gonzalez, 25 years after custody battle, seeks to bridge divide between Cuba and U.S.
Elian Gonzalez said he wants to make sure no other mother risks her life or the life of a child trying to escape conditions in Cuba like his mother did 25 years ago.

I get that most people aren't really equipped to follow politics from a heavy policy standpoint, but an electorate that votes based on vibes is going to kill us all.

Once again, Ta-Nahesi Coates has articulated the point with an almost stunning clarity.

Guys, I love all of you, but the answer to RFK, Jr. is not that autistic adults hold jobs, pay taxes, and get laid, it's that everyone deserves to live even if they can't work, pay taxes, or get laid.

Okay, what Francesca said. The silence from way too many of us rn is really something.

Whereas these actions led to my Harvard alum sister donating to her Alma Mater for the first time ever, the recent anti-DEI actions of my Alma Mater USC have put my regular donations on a permanent hiatus. I always donated to DEI efforts anyhow, so no point if they no longer exist! How embarrassing
Harvard redid its whole homepage to push back against the administration’s demands. I mean, this is just a website but I think it’s kind of a great PR move: www.harvard.edu

I’m so jealous of this! One of my all time favorite movies. A classic Anna Faris performance for the ages. Full camp, which is my favorite genre.

Shoutout to the speaker from my hometown, Salinas. He’s right!
California Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas (D-Salinas): "there are currently more kids with measles in Texas than there are transgender athletes in the NCAA. That's the epidemic we should all be worried about."

Trying to ascertain whether or not my listening to “The Body Keeps Score” while going on my daily walks has contributed to the sudden, pervasive cramping in my legs, this past week. I’ve always been an attentive student, but this is a bit much, even for me! 🤣

As a brown alumnus of USC’s film school, I wish DEI was as prevalent as they claim it is. 🙄 If anything, it’s notable if you’re enrolled and somehow not a nepo baby.
FYI: RIP DEI @ USC

Here's the paragraph from yesterday's press release, a true Profile in Cowardice.

Tawyna’s right. This is an excellent sign of what’s to come. And as someone who has worked on location shows that exploited the up-until-now more robust tax credits in other states and abroad, I welcome the return to LA-based production. This was long overdue and so welcome! 🙏🏽

After re-connecting with an acquaintance at an alumni networking event a few years ago, he expressed frustration at getting so close but ultimately not securing a studio fellowship. At the time, I’d applied to a few, without ever advancing. Now I’m where he was at. Bittersweet progress still counts!
