A cousin is anyone near your age in your family or some kid who is around a lot and an aunt is an older lady who gives a shit about you.
To be continued, as time permits.

Hope y'all are doing well, even thriving, despite all attempts to the contrary.

Love and resistance,

solidad
This is not a path I necessarily recommend! For one thing, it's very easy to confuse with pessimism. It's very close to that, ideologically, but it's different. Sort of like "even sand has a purpose", if that makes sense. (Sand as opposed to earth, for example).
Something I need to write on more, and will likely be doing so at some point in the next while: how the foundation of my various identities is rooted in not only the attempted destruction of my peoples, but that the (near) destruction itself has led to a blossoming of sorts, over time.

From a Homeland Security video. The queasy, disorienting surrealistic vision of power they *want* to project. Reminds me of James Tynion’s Department of Truth comics, a brilliant text on Cold War paranoia and fake news chaos now.

when it comes to Confederate statues, you gotta melt the shit down or otherwise fuck it up so badly it cannot be repaired

bc if there is even a possibility that it can be restored?? these motherfuckers are gonna put it right back up at the earliest opportunity
Feels symbolic that a Confederate statue first installed in 1901, at the peak of the consolidation of the Jim Crow system—when the states of the former Confederacy were in the midst of revising their constitutions to disfranchise Black citizens—has been reinstalled.

A Confederate statue toppled in Washington, D.C., in 2020 has been reinstalled
A statue of Confederate general Albert Pike, which had been pulled down during the Black Lives Matter movement, has been put back up in Washington, D.C.'s Judiciary Square.

Do not normalize any headline or article that refuses to call out Trump's proposal to run again in 2028 and treats it like a political game.

Call out all these polls and hypotheticals.

This man cannot run again. Like we've said, he will try to stay in power until death.

this. if i heard nearly as much advocacy for clean air as i do complaints about mitigatory behaviors like masking maybe we’d be having different conversations.
And if you hate masking, push for clean indoor air rules in workplaces, schools, and medical settings. Support businesses that have HEPA filters going.

Normal has changed.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

I'm starting to see multiple threads where bluesky folks are trying to raise money for their local food banks because of the shutdown of SNAP starting November 1... can we get a thread going for people to find each other? Drop your link and put your city in front, let's coordinate city by city!

ICE is traumatizing children with cruel immigration raids, then trying to strip them of their due process rights when they’re alone, without attorneys or family to help them.

Tell ICE to stop tormenting kids — and urge Congress to introduce legislation to protect these children.
ICE: Stop Terrorizing Children
ICE is traumatizing children as young as 14 – trying to strip them of their rights while they're without attorneys or family to help them. Take action against these horrific abuses now.

The role of conservative pundits is to defend the right wing project. Yes, even the ones you find ‘reasonable.’

NEW: We're urging an appeals court to re-consider a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration's attempt to deploy National Guard troops in Portland, Oregon.

The military should not be policing civilians.
