Unlike pandas, life isn’t black and white, so we need to live in the gray. Sometimes that means accepting or forgiving people for not always being perfect. Hitting a paywall for a link? Check https://archive.ph/ to see if it's been saved.

Trump is not that tough. He likes to pick on those who have less power than he does, but will run like a baby if someone fights back.

It's easier if we all fight back together.

Negative coverage does not mean biased coverage. Trump's coverage is negative because he does so many bad things. He is ripping up our Constitution, trashing our economy, and threatening our institutions and neighbors, all while taking every opportunity to enrich himself and reward his allies.

Well, you've certainly changed my mind. Now that I think about it, the media never reported on Obama or Biden invading American cities, or accepting foreign jets, or launching vindictive prosecutions, or disrupting the economy with their tariffs, or undermining health and science research, or ...

Early in my career (many years ago), retirement planning articles would use examples where a young worker saved enough to have $1 million in a 401(k) at retirement, and would be in great shape.

At some point, I did notice that the examples started assuming $1.5-$2 million would be required. Sigh.

WSJ is rocking it.

"The warden called a 'town meeting' for inmates. She warned that if inmates made threats to Maxwell, put her in any sort of danger or talked to the press about her, they would be shipped to a harsher facility, people familiar with the matter said."

A 15 year old boy with autism went missing earlier this week

He was selling fruit with his family in Springbranch when he disappeared

They filed a missing person’s report & begged the public to help find him

Turns out he was in a Houston ICE detention facility

They kidnapped a disabled child!

Just want to say, a million bucks is still a lot of money, even today.

They don't care. Other people are just NPCs.

OK, if he started with nothing, and he now has almost nothing, hasn't he come out ahead? I mean, losing 99% of $30 million leaves you $300,000--did he put more than $300,000 of real money into this?

You know, the Times has had that Katie Porter story on the home page for 4-5 days now. I can't tell you how often I've heard about some Trump-related story early in the day and have not been able to find the Times story on it that evening.

This is something that, when I finally got around to reading it, I meant to just skim, and ended up reading all the way through. I would put this up with Adam Serwer's "The Cruelty Is the Point" article (archive.ph/NjiSx) as one of the key explainers of why things are so bad today.
Many millions of Americans love Trump because he routinely humiliates people. It validates their own actions. They live vicariously though him, imagining the humiliation they could inflict if they were given greater power. He also normalizes the behaviour. The symbolic power of having someone of his open sadism in the Oval Office is massive. It is changing our society, making humiliation much more acceptable, and corroding the norms that partially restrain humiliators.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

"...the old issues of How To Read This Chart are not available at The Washington Post website, but can (somewhat spottily) be found at the Internet Archive. Why? Because the internet is rotting away beneath us. (Also because The Post doesn't archive its newsletters.)"

You didn't save them yourself?
