The character should not purely be treated as a burden, but the fact that they CAN be a burden is a tool.

It also doesn't have to be caused by injury, autism, etc. Some people just... Aren't able to mature, maybe they never had to and are suddenly confronted by that fact.

If you have a character who cannot care for themself, maybe their emotional or mental development was stunted somehow, maybe they were never allowed to mature, whatever the reason, that should not be the sole purpose of that character. That behavior has an impact on everyone around them.

Infantilization is an incredibly powerful dramatic tool that can be (and often is) done so poorly that it winds up insulting entire swathes of the audience instead of invoking any sort of emotional response toward the work.

Nothing prompted this, it was just on my mind while I was writing.

My concern with Glitch at this point is that they're picking up a ton of stuff really really fast and I question how well that's gonna pan out quality-wise. I know only having like two consistent shows at a time isn't sustainable, but also, y'know, Roman Empire.
