Exciting news, #BluePit is opening up to the wider storytelling community! Creators in the #gamedev, #ttrpg, and #comic communities are now welcome to pitch their projects during our first pitch event. With this announcement comes two new cohosts @jadeblack21.bsky.social and @feyearth.bsky.social🧵
Planning on June!

We had a picture book pitch event in October as a litmus test and had over 700 pitches. Agents did show up, although not at the volume of past Twitter events. But it was a good trial run. #skypitch

As you busily make Tuesday plans, a reminder that we will be here having #kidlitchat at 9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific… and YOU are invited! (This happens every Tuesday, btw.) Looking forward to seeing you there! Err… here!

If you used TweetDeck at the Other Place, you'll find deck.blue very easy to navigate, and probably the best way to follow #kidlitchat in real time. However you choose to follow, we hope to see you tonight at 9 pm Eastern!
We have a #kidlit pitch party event here on Bluesky.
Our one complaint was the volume of non-agent likes. Even with the rules posted prominently, it was rampant.
We held #skypitch last month as a proof of concept to see if a pitch event is viable here! It had a huge response, and a few agents participated. Interested to see how agencies respond to the influx this week.
One thing that I’m brainstorming a solution for is the volume of non-agent/editor likes pitches got in our trial event. Hoping to reduce that number in future. #skypitch

Bluesky stuns in new App Store ranking
Plans are for events in October and June.
We had in the ballpark of 700 pitches, and a small handful of agent likes. There were an awful lot of non-agent likes that made it hard to get a good count. It exceeded my expectation for the number of participants, I believe people loved connecting and sharing their work!
Well, we only had a handful of Agents, but it was cathartic for everyone and the turnout for pitches was great. And it connected a lot of creatives. It definitely worked as a proof of concept!

I really do believe this is the best thing about Bluesky in its current incarnation. Everywhere else feels like you're wearing a sandwich board trying to get people to talk to you, but those people are wearing their own sandwich boards. I'm actually having conversations with people here!

Yes!
The collapse of pitch parties on X left a hole, and feedback over the year made me realize many people working alone in the query trenches needed to interact and get feedback. Agent/editor likes isn’t the only reason to do this. Bluesky excels at letting you mingle with other creatives! ❤️

(If I didn’t 💙 your pitch I’m sure your book is also great — sorry! If you read my wishlist and bio and familiarize yourself with my list, and you think your work would be a fit based on all of that, then you can just query me as well — but please DO follow the instructions on the website!)

Hi! I should have posted this yesterday, whoops 😬 😂 — if I 💙’ed your pitch during #SkyPitch, you can query me by following the directions at andreabrownlit.com - use “children’s” as the category, and please put “SkyPitch request” or similar in the referral line! I look forward to reading!

In the meantime, I'm hoping to keep an eye on skypitch. If I ❤️ your pitch, you can find my submission info at www.manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/to... (and note that I'm an editor who accepts unagented & agented work, not an agent myself!)

I saw a couple of agents and one assistant editor from Holiday House. I didn't get any likes but I did meet and connect with lots of #kidlit folks so it was a win! Thanks, @boringstorybook.com for hosting this!
#skyfeed was planned as a proof of concept to gauge community response / gather metrics we can all use to show that Bluesky is a worthwhile social media platform to adopt.

And a cathartic release for creators who are working and querying in a vacuum to get feedback & connect with other creators.👍
