Why not? Because characters do whatever the fuck they want to do sometimes, and maybe that's not for me to manage. If your characters live and breath, which is the goal of all authors, sometimes they are unruly, unwilling and frankly unappreciative of what you want them to do.

Sure, I plan some stuff out. I have a vague idea of the characters, the plot, the ending, the name of the story, but really, I can't be sure if that what the story is.
