I'll tell you something the cheered *me* right up recently was discovering a podcast that a certain pair of my favourite sci-fi authors host :D I am slowly making my way through the books showcased on the pod :)

Started listening to the F1 races live from the timing website, rather than waiting for the C4 highlights since I kept accidentally spoiling the results, and... it just sounds like a very tedious sport* when it's audio only.

If it's any consolation, I spent my morning off work measuring twice.. thrice... and still managed to mark out one side of a building 5mm taller than the other 🫠 I think it's recoverable but we'll see 😅

The problem with the alien franchise is that there's only so many ways you can spin the whole "bunch of people get picked off one by one, the hero makes their escape and wins the day" thing - I'm watching for the visuals these days :) (did enjoy romulus for that factor)

I think about our family friend often; who answered a phone call on her partners phone, whilst he was out in the shed working on his bike with a mate; "who am I? the mother of his kids" - invited her round for a cuppa, so they sat in the kitchen chatting, partner outside completely obliv. Delicious.
