It is hard and rough and that is why we celebrate and give respect to those who do. For a person to tell me they deserve the same simply because they like something that seems outside of the norm for their community tells me they feel our problems and conflicts are nothing to them.

I celebrate that despite everything, I have survived my own identity and come this far on my journey. When folks open up to me about their identities it isn't the identity itself that I am happy for, it is that these folks have completed the struggle to get this far.

And I personally have had to fight ever single day for any semblance of internal peace with my situation. I don't love my alterhuman identity, I don't celebrate it. I celebrate what it teaches me about myself, the things I have been able to learn, the community I have been allowed to be a part of.

Feeling like an outsider constantly or like you're stuck in some sort of limbo between worlds. The fear wondering if the people you care about around you truly see you for you or as just some eccentric human. The list goes on and on with how people struggle with their identities.

Questioning everything and trying to decide what society will let you get away with. Wondering what people will say and who you can trust. The constant swing back in forth wondering if you are just insane or if this is real. The feeling that something is wrong when you look in a mirror.

This identity is hard, I struggle constantly with it. It isn't a sunshine and rainbow thing I can just take off when it is bad or inconvenient. Try wearing a mask every day, having to think carefully about every action you take, everything you say.
