Hi, I'm Nauta. I like to take photos of things, mostly squirrels. I collect and shoot a myriad of cameras, film and digital, old and new. I also enjoy biking to a great extent, coffee even more so, and spending time with my friends. If you like my photos or just want to say hello, please feel free.

Zootopia 2 was good.
The worst part about it honestly was that it took almost ten years to come out.
Tonight's showing is on the left, 2016's Zootopia outing is on the right.
There aren't many of the same people in both photos. I think four of us went to both showings.
So much has changed.

I've spent the entire day inside with a headache but near the end of the day it abated enough for me to get Thanksgiving photos edited.
At least these people appreciate my photography and engage with it. I enjoy the experience more knowing I can contribute something through these memories.

Thanksgiving photos.
I arrived early so I waited outside and photographed Athena running around chasing squirrels up trees.
Then when I left, the sunset was in a strategic position because I parked further away than I needed to.
I did all of this by accident, but it worked out.

It's amazing how I can come home from Thanksgiving feeling loved, wanted and valued as opposed to feeling talked down to, disrespected and disregarded as I have previous years.

My dad isn't worth driving a half hour for Thanksgiving, but my extended, unrelated stepmother's family (which they have both distanced themselves from) is worth driving twice as far for.
I'm thankful I have come to realize my father is a caustic person and harmful to my mental health.

My five and a half year old free LG K51 now has a new case and a tempered glass screen protector for the first time.
It still looks new, but the old case was falling apart.
I'm looking forward to seeing how many more years I can get out of this thing. Battery still gets me through a day easily.

One of the biggest anxiety triggers of mine is having planned (and in this case paid) for an event months ahead of time and finding out the one day I need to travel long distance for it, the forecast is for a bunch of snow and shitty roads.
Now I gotta decide if the risk is worth the money I'm out.

I haven't spoken to my dad since last Thanksgiving when we had a big argument over how he disrespect me but expects me to show him respect. I called out his hypocracy and left in the middle of dinner. I haven't heard from him since.
Am I a bad person because i don't want to see him this year?

I'm very tired and sore but at least I don't feel like a terrible person. I just feel terrible.

The challenge of photo editing sometimes comes down to the most subtle things like preserving the range of colours in highlights where making just slight changes the wrong way can destroy the gentle transition of hues.
