New #mutualaid post for October. I'm traveling out of state this month to Colorado to visit my fiance, and groceries are a lot more expensive here than where I live. I've raised enough for groceries for the next two weeks, but with little leftover.

fundraisers are ignored while we have panic attacks over our disability applications being falsely denied, we go hungry or malnourished while popular accounts on twitter, tiktok and even bluesky pay a premium to get expensive takeout delivered to them 24/7.

people like me can't even AFFORD takeout

It also helps to be popular - because very few people give a shit about disabled people who can't even muster up the energy to get on social media enough. so people like me are just EXTRA looked over whereas popular accounts just straight up don't care about disabled people most of the time lol

yuppp i've lived in both countries and the people are largely the same

the biggest difference i feel is that americans tend to be more upfront and honest whereas canadians are more snide or hide things, plausible deniability seems more common. it's exhausting
