I always wanted to be an author. I grew up wanting to write stories, like the science fiction novels I adored. This is what I told everyone.

Then I reached my mid-30s and abruptly noticed that I'd forgotten to become a novelist.

I'd done some other stuff, but had forgotten that main dream.

My son is that little bit too old for The Phoenix, and I'm struggling. He's fine, of course, because he's just growing up.

The higher up a company hierarchy you go, the less those people understand how anything in their own company actually works.

Anyone not already in management worked this out decades before AI was on the scene.
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

I listened to Off Panel's chat with Kieron Gillen, which inevitably made me question everything I've been doing for the last 4 years.

This is the inherent danger of listening to a KG interview.

In 2025 it seems to be OK to mount an insurrection, but it's not OK to accuse someone of mounting an insurrection.

In 2025 it also seems to be OK to behave in a racist way, but it's not OK to accuse someone of behaving in a racist way.

This seems the wrong way around to me.

Joe Marler to play Jackie in Cyberpunk 2077 movie.

I mean, he's already played Zoltan Chivay in Witcher 3, so has history with CD Projekt Red.

Not in a door.

In a brick wall. Not obviously connected to anything.

Went to my first TFNation at the weekend. Enormous fun, but also wonderful to see such a wide ranging bunch of people all having a great time.
It's as bad in the UK, but there was a point over the weekend when @jimsorenson.bsky.social and I were talking, taking in the diversity of the crowd, and it dawned on us how much a happy gathering like TFN is not just a respite from, but really an act of resistence in the face of the evils of today.
My feed is full of TFN emotion love unplugged & coping...

Tied with upswing fascist take over of America.

It's a bipolar place to be.

One minute jumping into Transformers fandom love.

The next angst-y resist, outrage, face punching, etc.

I feel split emotionally today.
It's a weird place to be.

What is 'responsible AI'? Does it exist, or do we need to go back to the drawing board? Industry Champion @vandewcandew.bsky.social writes about the impact of AI technologies on the creative industries and charts a possible way forward in this new blog.
