Most people are going the opposite direction right now. I personally would vote against it. It's too scary and any anonymity you can keep is worth it. I went face out to face in a few years ago and while it's annoying, it's also worth it.

Honestly, embarrassingly, not long. I first started playing in high school, took a decade long hiatus, started fiddling around a couple years ago, got distracted by grad school, and just picked it back up again a few weeks ago, but this time it feels like it's sticking.

Well, if the principal is lower, the interest that accrues will be less, so yes. Like 5% of 20k is less than 5% of 10k, so it will speed up the repayment process.
