drives me insane to remember being told by journalists that they couldn't cover twitch, because it was only a tiny $1b market compared to youtube (which they also didn't do a great job of covering, and which also hosted many twitch streamers' videos)

i'm curious how different the outcome would be if people at least used the sovereign hosting in eu, in which case aws us-east-1 downtime could serve as an indicator for companies hosting infrastructure outside the eu

silent hill f is so annoyingly videogame-y in a way that i haven’t experienced in ages

sometimes a game reminding you that you’re just playing some code is the worst feeling ever
you have to wonder how many people would be on mac and linux if not for gaming

vod of the steam where emiru talked about all the ways twitch lied and failed her in providing security at twitchcon

seeing a big twitch streamer like emiru attacked at twitchcon is another reminder that there is still absolutely no useful information system for the massive field and business of influencers with millions of followers and hundreds of billions in revenue

My friend Andrew Lih @fuzheado.bsky.social is a freakin hero. A gunman came into his Wikipedia event, and he grabbed and disarmed him. Thanks to him and another brave volunteer, no one was hurt—not even the gunman.

Now let’s ask why we accept a society where this can happen at any large gathering.
