Yeah, I’ve seen English, French, and Spanish websites misrepresent what he said. In the Spanish ver, the quote they used was poorly translated.

People just misrepresented what Hamaguchi actually said. He said that Aerith was a sister like figure in how she acts (pulling him around to do things), not in her feelings for Cloud.

(I feel it deserves to be noted that directly after that answer, Kitase followed up with a simple “Cloud’s thought of deeply by two different women. What a lucky guy.” Hamaguchi and Kitase have as good of a dynamic as anyone you’d find in the game itself.)
