otherworldly insect
perhaps a black rhinoceros
beetle - all hard shell and horns

foraging fearlessly in the leaf

We drive past the factories, the pulp mills, plumes of smoke that edge clouds. Past the fields, cow and sheep, tottering lamb. The birds murmur in soft charcoal dancing on blue and we watch it all from our momentum. A song plays and I drift away, my regrets chasing me.
