Last year, a collector sent me some of his beautiful books to be painted and bound. The first of those is the fantasy novel Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke. This is the Fore-edge of the book featuring a raven skull.

This is amazing! I'm a Fore-edge painter and this is such a fascinating story. I'm glad they're back too. I did not realise the cover would also have to be factored in for the dye used. The process gets you to appreciate the work that goes behind it.

I began watching Dune: Prophecy yesterday. I love how they have adapted most of the aesthetics and style of Denis Villeneuve. I loved the movies. Each frame had looked like a painting. Have you guys seen Vanishing Fore-edge paintings? Here's a Vanishing painting I made inside a dune book.

Why do female authors write such good male characters while most male written female characters are more of a physical prop? (not generalizing, just what I'm coming across in my recent books, screenplay in movies, etc. Jane Austen's Darcy always tops this.)
