For sure, I do have things that I’m behind on in comparison with my peers, but there are a lot of preconceived notions on autism that people have that color their views on just how much of an adult, or even a person, that you can be. The infantilization of autistic folks is still a huge issue.

One of the most painful things about being autistic is when you share what your limitations are and see pity in another person’s eyes. Because then you know they don’t see you as an equal, but rather someone who needs looking after. It’s a very specific look and it hurts to see every time.
