I am leaving X.

The app is capable of creating pornographic images of children, there is absolutely no question: I cannot, in good conscience, remain on the platform.

This internet handle thing - if we think about it like a phone number, it makes sense for folks to have an internet ID they can use across whatever they want. Doesn’t matter if it’s ATProto apps or not. Can add all sorts of derived ephemeral IDs for privacy + finally have that user data passport.

That CJEU case about personal data is online ads is very specifically in the context of online marketplaces. I can’t see any reading that would make it applicable to something like Bluesky or the overwhelming majority of websites and apps.

Metrics are important for purpose. For @eurosky.social’s success I have one personal metric: in 5 years time I want to see 50%+ of social media in Europe to be on open platforms.

I have a little bit of an obsession with user interfaces, probably because I find it difficult to navigate any interface that it is not very clean and intuitive. Controversial take here: Linkedin has the best interface of any social media, followed by TikTok. I love Bluesky but it's a busy interface

European policymakers should designate open-source frameworks like the AT Protocol, the foundation for Bluesky, as critical infrastructure and invest in developing social-media apps on them, argues Sebastian Vogelsang.

The original excuse for my trip to London was to meet my friend @sherifea.bsky.social — we had not seen each other in five years!

« There’s this person I’d like you to meet, what about we record a podcast? », he said.

That’s how I met Vib. A collision I will remember for a long time.

Can Europe build it own AWS? John Ozbay (Crypt.ee) had a chat about this. TL;DR European cloud is a good 10-15 years behind and it will be a hard lift, but it can and must be done. #tech #European #Eurostack
