Hey, apparently I still know all the words to the Counting Crows album "August and Everything After", so that's an interesting use of space allocation my brain decided to make happen while I can't remember calculus.

Been working on the villain of this book for a while and finally Cracked her, spent so much time in this headspace it’s genuinely spooking me. Like being so high you’re afraid you’re never going to be sober again… but with someone violently unhinged. On the bright side, the book is coming along.

Wet Hot American Summer and Idiocracy are two im glad I got to see when they were in theatres for a blip.
Have asked this before and always like the responses. What are your biggest “I saw that in the first run cinema” flexes? Couple of mine:

Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Office Space (1999)

Pluribus resonates with me because if there were some sort of society-ending disaster, riding it out by drinking nonstop and watching a Golden Girls DVD seems like a reasonable action plan.

My 9 year old told me they are doing an "AI" unit at school and I got a little worried, then she came home and showed me the role play exercises they did about what to tell a friend who says they should use AI for their work and that they shouldn't blindly trust it. Kids are gonna be alright!

When I lived in Sweden they said if I could survive two winters I would a-ok, and I did. But now in the UK, it's not as dark but I swear to god this amount of non-stop rain is going to be my villain origin story.

When the original Strangers came out, the whole reason so many people thought it was so scary was that is preyed on that 'random psychopath' fear. So, why did they decide to give them deep lore? I saw the trailer for the newest one and someone's lifting up the mask like what are we dooooooing here.

I'm justifying spending the last three hours playing The Roottrees are Dead as self-care.

I like boomers complaining about not being able to understand Bad Bunny songs in Spanish as if most of them aren't still
singing "there's a bad moon on the right".

I don’t have anywhere else to put this so here: I’m almost done reading Lonesome Dove and it’s a wonderful book but my god the word “loped” must be in it two million times. everyone loping all the way to Montana.

With the resurgence of the Muppets, I wonder if it's time to bring back Greg the Bunny and Warren the Ape. Yes. Yes it is.

Blessings upon whomever finally got through to the people in charge at Disney that they could actually make the Muppet Show again and it actually just.. be the Muppet Show and be excellent.

Being outside the US I am mildly sad about missing Super Bowl stuff, but devastated about not having a live feed of the Puppy Bowl.

Going through the Record Store Day list and there's an album called Loguerhythms, which I misread as Logarythmics and I was so intrigued that there was a calculus based Eurythmics cover band, I already pictured them wearing Devo helmets and tunics with those little exponent figures on them.

American Pie. I hate that song so much, I want the Chevy to drive off the levy and sink to the bottom please.
Fuck your favourite song. Tell me your least favourite song. The one that makes you die inside the moment you hear the first 3 seconds.

I'm on a mission to introduce my daughter to hip hop since she likes rap and music discoverability in the streaming age is shit. Mad props to Ramesh Ranganathan's BBC2 radio show because if I tell her something is interesting she doesn't care but she believes him for some reason and it's been great.

I fear my online energy is a drunk person at the bar who wants to interrupt your conversation about the Super Bowl to tell you about how much I like the movie Nope and that fuckin scary chimp.

I've finally found a book about writing craft that doesn't make me want to stab out my frontal cortex, so that's nice.

Went to see Iron Lung at 2pm on a Tuesday and the theatre was full! I am really surprised, good for Markiplier. I wish more rich people would fund creative projects instead of spending their time and money on making life worse for not-rich people.

I just need everyone to know that I found a DDR machine today and it had End of the Century on it and freaking 20 year old muscle memory came through. Like riding a bike, baby. I'm super cool.

The National Theatre production of Doctor Strangelove does some amazing work mixing screens and special effects with the talents of Steve Coogan an eerily persistently timely environment of governmental war mongering and ridiculousness.

Who wants to come over and we can listen to REM and stuff zines into empty cassette cases? My mom will order pizza and then she promises to leave us alone.
