Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

Read what you want to read and don't worry about what you "should" read. Your time is finite, books are awesome and there millions more than you can possibly read in a lifetime, there is no reason to self inflict literary suffering.

Still looking for someone, haven't found a single person so far (that I can contact). I have a 46-episode script that I need translated. This would be a paid job!

Completely unrelated to my 2am doomposting but does anyone know an English to Japanese translator, ideally with experience in screenplays?

Just got a really lovely email from someone reading Wolf House who wishes they'd had the books as a teen -- I will never reread them, because I'm scared they'll be full of mid-2000s slurs and writing that makes me cringe, but it means so much to me that they're still special to people even now.

My great-grandfather's name at Ellis Island was Borzellino, so it hasn't changed much, but I still think that's neat.

Lots of us have great-grandparents names who were absolutely changed when they came here, and when people say otherwise, they're assuming your great-grandparents name was in the Roman alphabet.
robynelyse.bsky.social
Now, more than ever, it's important to understand why so many the myths we tell ourselves about immigration are actually very harmful.

First of all, your great-great-grandparents names *were not changed* at Ellis Island. No one there had the authority to do that.

The fact that Jared Leto is now widely known as a creep is satisfying to me because I can remember back in bandom in like 2007 it being common knowledge that he was a mean, sometimes violent jerk to groupies he slept with.

I very deliberately used the Hero's Journey for Incandescent Girl but largely I just go for "make the reader care about the characters" and try to hit an emotional catharsis beat late in the story.
ddwardiswriting.bsky.social
So #WritingCommunity how do we feel about structure?

Do you use the 3 act structure? The 5 act?

Hero's Journey? Save the Cat? Super Structure Method? Story Genius Method?

Something else?

What have you got?

Brennan Lee Mulligan was super fun -- his players were basically Melbourne's best and brightest of nerd comedy, and it walked the line really well between chaotic and coherent. I wish there hadn't been quite so much heckling but the performers took it in stride.

How do I explain to offline people that my favorite Japanese mascot said "we can only be liberated from queer oppression if we are truly seen as human" and then started wielding fireworks like a rocket launcher on the side of a mountain without sounding like I've totally lost it?

Chiitan forever

Chiitan has a dream.
I hope that one day the term LGBT will become a thing of the past.
I will continue to spread my message until we live in a world where everyone can love freely and is free from persecution and discrimination.
Until then, let's all support each other🤍
