… by the time the Pistols split - a movement had arisen to answer their call - CRASS lead the way - lighting a touch paper igniting a cultural revolution - the effects still felt today

The CRASS poster below was pasted outside London’s infamous Roxy Club 👇
I love this photo

Lydon and Sidney in Berlin 1977

John stares down the camera -dead cold & dead cool- he’s stood directly in front of a ‘wanted anarchists’ poster -the poster offering a cash reward for information that may lead to the capture of the R.A.F - Sid swigs from a bottle …

On this day in 1871, French troops sided with the people that they were sent to repress against the generals and the oligarchs who sought to dominate them. This set off a revolutionary chain reaction that changed the course of history.

Such things do happen.

March 18, 1871: The Birth of the Paris Commune
A narrative recounting how the revolutionary Paris Commune got underway 147 years ago on this day.

From another revolt in France, but nonetheless fitting and true when thinking on the commune -

‘Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive but to be young was very heaven’
Eternal
Artisans and communists, laborers and anarchists, took over the city of Paris and established the Commune on this day in 1871.

Our luxuriously bearded keyboard whizz Gareth S. Brown has the first album under his Death-Static moniker released today. Truly gorgeous ambience.
My new miserable ambient album (the first under the name Death-Static and first solo release since 2020) has been released today by sound in silence. You can buy download or hard copies here: soundinsilencerecords.bandcamp.com/album/time-i...
I’ll be talking at this at MayDay Rooms - Wed 26th - 6.30 pm

Hope to see some of you there 👇❤️🖤
The Call to Arms.

Answered by thousands during the cultural revolt of 1977
For a decade or two, the music press acted as a popular alternate curriculum, introducing a generation or two to radical politics, wider reading and alternate/submerged histories.

If you weren’t of the class who saw higher education as either guaranteed or a natural birth right-it was invaluable.
It was fantastic. There was a set from Jerry Dammers also. Exhibition is also great - as is the accompanying publication - check it out when you’re down
A great evening out with the MayDay Rooms crew for the launch party of Mick Jone’s pop culture archive - yes that Mick Jones. A good turn out from the west London punky/reggae milieu (and their kids) with excellent sets by Dennis Bovell and Tessa Pollitt. We danced our fucking socks off

Appel's fellow delegate and hijacker was Berlin's Club #Dada cofounder Franz Jung.

The boat was the Senator Schroder, which has it's own wiki page:
