The far right's usage of AI art is more cringe than Ali G.
I'm in my 40s. In my teenage years I was under the impression hover boots would be the norm.

I guess I'll have to settle with my car, designed by what I assume is a fourteen year old boy, giving me relationship advice.
It's really what marks the end of the web2.0 era I think. We got all these revolutionary tools like open api, stoplight and advocates and pioneering CEOs.

The conclusion is the world as imagined by the likes of Bezos, Musk and Zuckerberg.
The balance of open source wor vs proprietary offerings, developer experience departments and having a strong engineering culture back then made places like Canonical and Datadog.

That world is gone.
So, so glad I discovered this. Sometimes we all need to feel like we aren't all going mad in tech, and there is indeed an entire part of the consultancy arm of the industry that is paid ludicrous sums of money to say 'clever' things.

Update: the event is in seventeen days and no speakers are listed.
Update: it appears to be going not very well. The previous years' speakers have been erased from history and replaced with product people not associated with the actual conference.
From a Developer Community and conference organising standpoint, I am absolutely fascinated to find out what happens if you have a 1 month CfP that closes a month before the event, with no CoC, a 404 to the site, a promise of 500+ devs and marketing that thinks devs are still in the "Swordfish" era.
the sad thing is, Gov.UK was a beacon of how to actually build good infrastructure and how to do it with a transparant process.
This abomination is just back to business as usual. Someone goes out to dinner with their mates at Saachi, various lobbying promises are made and magic taxpayer money moves
Current government, or any of the governments of the past 15 years?
The thing is, it's not though, is it? It's a dot. That will be half a million pounds please.
You know me, and therefore this probably shouldn't surprise you, but sitting on the bog doing your midnight poo is not the time to read the uruk-hai reference. I think I've woken up alex, cheers sons crying.
You're absolutely right!
Most mumble rap is in gibberish, and that is allegedly in English
It falls into this weird cult like following of stupid people who are rich and pretend to be clever. Nobody is stepping back and thinking "hang on, do I REALLY want to own something clearly designed by a 13 year old boy who posts on 4chan too much?"
You want to know something really horrifying? Small to medium size pickups are now everywhere in the UK. A country that... does not have the road infrastructure for them. So we're seeing Ford Raptors going down roman roads. It makes no sense. You can't park them anywhere
I love how culturally baffling it is to me that all of the UK press have been absolutely creaming themselves over the reunion Oasis shows, but nobody is talking about this lot doing their first tour since 2017, who are sonically in a different world of artistry.

Maybe not chickens for me, but I have specifically planted 3-5 metre bushes for small birds as I want some Robins and tits to nest in the garden
The Beta Band reforming and doing their first show in 20 years is probably the only news I need to know today.
I have realised that when tech burns me out I will simply be a retired gardener spending all my time in a greenhouse. So it begins.
