I see it a tiny bit like Heaven and Hell in the Diablo world, where ultimately the mortals are just beings to be controlled or act as cannon fodder.
Not completely transferable of course but broad strokes.

Legion was very strong here too with Xe'ra the Naaru Prime, not just a 'flawed mortal', but probably the being closest to the light we've seen so far trying to force their will on Illidan.

If this was done by some fel or void being we'd 100% call it an attempt at corrupting Illidan...

Likeable is probably not the word here.😅

And if the faction conflict will ever bubble up again he will definitely be right in the middle, if not the cause of it.
For better or worse... that depends on the writing

He has the makings to become the kind of character Blizz turned Yrel into for the Mag'har AR quest. (or twisted her into😭)

Most of the Lightforged too. Powerful addition to the Alliance but always on the tip of turning full "It's cleansing time!"...

Doubt they will go there, but the possibility 👀
