I hate the Dragon Age fandom. "We're so LGBTQIA+ inclusive!! But being ace is boring and no characters are ever allowed to be ace because what if I want to fuck them? And why do you need rep in the series? Can't you just headcanon your character as ace over there where no one else has to see them?"

It's social pressure--bottom line. When an author is popular, fans constantly pressure others to "read and like" the books in order to fit in. I've literally had people lie about representation or downplay certain content in novels in order to trick me into reading books.

Kirby was fired from Bioware in 2023, so she isn't really the final word on anything having to do with the character, even if I believed she was being genuine (she wasn't). Especially since Corinne Busche straight up said ace people aren't in the game. But yeah, keep giving the aphobes a pass.

This is a game for adults made by devs who claim to care about queer people and inclusivity, right? Why, then, *couldn't* she have been more clean if that was her intent? There are no canon aspec characters in Dragon Age. This would have been a big deal. As it is, it's NOTHING but online posturing.
