Another thing is in the last year I’ve learned so much about what goes in to writing a book, and to hold fanfic authors accountable to the same standards is insane. We don’t have a team of editors, social media managers, agents, etc to support us.

Just something I was thinking about this morning.

I’m not going to lie, my ass is in full moral injury AuDHD burnout and I would love a softer job as a writer. But, also having fanfic be a hobby is fine too!

People can have hobbies and not monetize them, I’m just back on my Seattle bullshit of doing that lol.

Went to a local book club with a coworker, had a really good discussion with other fanfic authors there about how our writing is held to the standards of trad published authors.

Another topic was people hoping their passion project going viral/getting popular so they can start an author career.
