Scientist and storyteller: Atmospheric Science Ph.D., software developer, and scfi/fantasy writer. I’m a weather and geosciences nerd, who loves books, comics, and RPGs. Expect me to talk about all of it. Smith College alumna. Ace demigirl. (she/they)
C has been playing Super Robot Wars Y. This has turned out to be a super dangerous game for me, a self-professed mecha girl, to watch. I already have a list half a dozen anime (most of which I’d never even heard of) I now need to track down and watch (from across several decades).

Holidays cards are in the mail! 5 days *before* Christmas! (You don’t understand how late I usually am with these). Christmas candy from local candy/chocolate shoppe acquired! My head is pounding, though, so Tree decorating is gonna need to wait a bit.

My mum made us this beautiful Christmas swag. I love it!

Tonight, I got another scene written in the fic! I just have one more little section of this chapter to do, and then this section of chapters will be done, and we will be headed into the End Game!

The hilarious part of this particular choice for comparison is that “Murder, She Wrote” takes place in a fictional Maine town and well…Stephen King *does* kinda get treated like this.
The most unbelievable part of Murder, She Wrote is not the preponderance of murders, it’s that a genre writer is forever treated by both publishing and the public as prestigious and culturally important

Today was turbulent weather + emotions. It was a horrific impostor syndrome day that had me in tears at one point, convinced that I am in the wrong job with no escape plan.
BUT I actually made progress with writing this evening! I got past a mini-block I’ve been struggling with the last few days!

I got some writing done tonight! Did it progress ANY of the stories I am working on right now, in any of the scenes I need to get written — absolutely not! But words! (And my brain has not been particularly cooperative today, so I’ll take any coherent writing as a win, even if it ends up as omake.)

Well can confirm water temperature is more critical to tea flavor than brew time (at least for black tea): brought to you by - this basket has been steeping for half an hour and doesn’t taste like crap.

Got the outdoor Christmas decorations up today! I almost lost my wedding ring in the snow - despite wearing (fingerless) gloves at the time, then the wires snapped on the string of lights I’d been hanging during the above incident — after I’d finished hanging them. But ultimately, success!

Well, I finished Season 2 of Harbin Hotel and I was *disappointed*. The first season was great, but the second season was not nearly as strong — not in the music, and most certainly not in the writing! It seemed that most plot threads were forced, rushed, and/or went nowhere. I’m not a fan of S2.

Want to write more, but too sleepy. It has been a very stressful and exhausting week and I *finally* got some writing time tonight. I only got a short coherent portion done, though. The rest: snippets to string together later, when I’m not literally starting to nod off at the keyboard. #amWriting

Race conditions are my favorite type of code problem to solve. (This is sarcasm.)

Just finished watching Andor (yes, I know, I’m late to the party). I found it overhyped. It had some moments that were exceptional. However, overall, the story was disjointed and there were way too many dropped story threads. And don’t get me started on how they wrote Bix; it was just insulting.

Back home again, and got some edits made to the opening chapters of the big WIP (it’s been literal years since I looked at these. Yikes.) I have time to do more writing, but my brain is starting to glaze over so it’s time to change gears to something else. Fic maybe? #amWriting

Just went for a walk down to the beach with my dad. A little cold but worth it. We saw a bald eagle and Santa leaving the local Coast Guard base via helicopter. Then coming home, we saw a fox run right across Dad’s yard. (No cause for alarm. It looked healthy and fox can be active in the daytime.)

Sketched a moment from a fic I’m writing just because. #storyArt

Visiting with Dad and stepmom for Thanksgiving weekend. So far, a lot of writing That Fic, some absolutely delicious food, a James Bond movie and the second half of Mary Poppins. (I also learned that Dad really likes Mary Poppins; he went to see it in the theater with his mom sisters and loved it.)

Hey, @keitichandesu.bsky.social - how does a HS marching band get into the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade?

This is an absolutely beautiful little bit of meteorology. Wow.
(For those of you who don’t know - the little black lines show wind speed and direction at each colored dot.The little black-circled dot of calm that the winds are circling around? That’s the surface low pressure point). #weather
Guess what, kids? It's time to play our favorite game: "Find the surface low!" Yaaaaaay!

I am so very tired but I got some writing done. So, happy.

Writing activity of the day: puttering through big OG WIP and picking at tiny bits and pieces, making the start of a pass to clean up my latest round of rewriting. It needs A LOT of cleanup. This last rewrite has had multiple restarts and has been done VERY piecemeal and it shows.
November 23, 2025 at 4:16 AM
A little more writing done today. I’ve come to a part I need to think about a little bit more. I don’t suppose any of you have suggestions for dungeon-puzzles that result in a character being left behind? (I need to spilt the party).
November 21, 2025 at 3:31 AM
Got some writing done today, which I wasn’t expecting to do, honestly. (November continues to be Not A Month to Work on Projects for me.) I’m headed into the final few chapters of the (entirely too long) Voltron Fic project. Goal: be done by the end of the year, so I can refocus on original WIP.
