The Hippeastrum flower bud is getting larger and the individual four flowers are starting to separate. A second flower stalk is forming on the same bulb but there are no leaves so far.

Sunsets are at 15:51 in Cirencester at the moment, just about the earliest they get, by 13th December they will be at 15:52, and becoming a little later every day so the evenings will be improving while the mornings will continue to worsen for another week. We're at a turning point!

A time in hospital
I was admitted and given a CT scan of my head. This seemed to show a very small, superficial bleed between the skull and brain, but the detail was not well resolved so an MRI scan was also ordered.

Flower stalks developing on our Hippeastrum 'Bronze Lion' that I bred some years ago now, a hand-pollinated cross of 'Red Lion' and a Pink and white cultivar. I didn't have the space to grow 100 seedlings to flowering age so selected this one because of its bronze foliage when young.

Today I made good progress on my next Blast from the Past article for JHM. It's now complete back to December 1975 when my daughter Debbie was just nine months old, seen here with my Mum. And yes, Mum was wearing a real fur coat - entirely acceptable in 1975. It was a hand-me-down family item.

Walking back from Small Group tonight I took a few star photos on my phone. I love how easy this is to do and how well a phone manages to do it. Here are the Hyades below and the Pleiades above. Not great astro-photography, but fun and lovely.

What a glorious morning! I had a shower and washed my hair and later I plan to walk into town, get my hair cut, and walk back. If I do an extra loop around Stratton that should get me 10 000 steps.

Mr Trump has lost the plot. He thinks he has leverage over Ukraine by threatening to withdraw US support. What support might that be? Gifts of cash, weapons, ammunition, and intelligence? They've already been withdrawn, so the threat is hollow. Ukraine has no choice but to carry on fighting.

Here's my weekly health update. It's now 3 weeks without any symptoms (seizures) and my typical blood pressure is around 120/75 with a pulse rate near 50 beats per minute. Those are good values at 77-years-old. But I'm most pleased about the continuing lack of seizures.

It's very clear to anyone with a modicum of common sense that this 'plan' will be utterly unacceptable to any Ukrainian, including Mr Zelenskyy.

We had a remarkably clear sky all day, not a cloud in sight, I think. The sky was blue after sunset, apart from a strong orange glow along the south-western horizon.

If your church life is too busy, maybe you need to dwell on these excellent thoughts from 'Aforgetfulsoul'. She really digs deep and comes up with a great solution to a common issue. Only the Holy Spirit can make difficult things simple like this!
