With win #666 😬, the #Eagles' combined record is over .500 for the first time in their 92 year history:
The biggest free agent of the 2002-03 off-season was Jim Thome.

23 years ago today Thome put the #Phillies back on the road to relevance.

Of MLB's top 50 Free Agents, as ranked by @mlbtraderumors, 8 have signed so far, including 4 who accepted Qualifying Offers, and 4 on new contracts.

The 4 accepted QO's are the most ever, while the 4 new contracts are typical for the last day of November.

Since the award was first given out in 2006, 26 players have won a Fielding Bible Award at either 2B or SS.

Only five of them have reached 3000 Total Base.

And of those, only two maintained an OPS+ over 110 while doing so:

Mookie Betts
Chase Utley

#Phillies WAR leaders since 2022 (fangraphs):

✅ Zack Wheeler in total WAR, 19.5

✅ Jesus Luzardo in average WAR per year, 5.3 (1 year)

That run already has Halladay in the Hall. If you are just looking at 07-11, Utley is a no doubt slam dunk Hall of Fame level talent, longevity is the argument against him by fWAR he trails Pujols 35.5 to 33.3 during that era. He easily was the 2nd best hitter in baseball during that time
This is the only case for him being in, and I hate this case. Just further eroding the prestige of the Hall.

The 2007-11 Phillies were a great TEAM and didn’t have a single player legitimately worthy of the Hall of Fame.

I have two opinions on the Hall of Fame ballot

1. Chase Utley is a Hall of Famer and voters need to stop fucking around.

2. It is objectively funny to have some real core Phillies in Abreu, Hamels, Rollins, and Utley AND cameo Phillies Gio Gonzalez, Howie Kendrick, Hunter Pence, and K-Rod

NL/AL Rookies of the Year will be announced today.

#Phillies: the only team with only 1 rookie batter (Otto Kemp)

✅ Max Lazar/Mick Abel led a slightly larger pitcher presence

✅ If (for simplicity) a full season for a pitcher is 200 IP, no team played rookies less

15 Sundays from today (2/22):

✅ The #Phillies host the Pirates for their first game in Clearwater.

✅ Most likely the first time we'll see the 2026 Phillies on TV.

Good question, yes — Harper is the #Phillies all-time leader in postseason WPA:

1) Harper +1.97
2) Utley +1.21
3) Luzinski +1.15
4) Werth +0.95
5) Dykstra +0.92

then Howard, Unser, Realmuto, Kruk, etc.

Bryce Harper in the postseason as a Phil:

✅ OPS by year ('22-25):

1.160, 1.097, 1.279, .600

✅ WPA by year (per 650 PA):

+9.3, +10.4, +8.0, -0.5

The numbers for '22, '23, and '24 would be MVP-level over a full season.

In 2025 Bryce Harper saw the fewest pitches in the strike zone: 42.9%*

Second lowest was 45.8%

From 4/11 to 5/27, Harper had Schwarber hitting behind him.

He STILL only saw 43.9% in the zone, which would still have been lowest in MLB.
