i dunno. just some ramblings about a video game. ik people who think 7.3 was incredible (and i heard someone say it was better than they thought dawntrail era writing could be, which i thought was absurd lmao), and i just wish i could be there with them, feeling rejuvenated and excited for more.

i think alexandria is most interesting as a place deep in the throes of change, and it would have been really impactful to have sphene come with us for a few years, adventure wherever we're going next, and return to find a people more confident in themselves, yet still welcoming of their history.

feels like Alexandria bent itself back into the shape she knew overnight, and she doesn't really have any reason to leave. she's just gonna sit in the Tural Cave, only relevant when we have to go back to that part of the world for some reason or another. i think, frankly, this sucks.

i wish sphene's resolution was a little more open-ended than "she goes back to alexandria to be their queen again bc they're her people". i think it would have been a lot more interesting to confront the fact that while they're similar, they've changed over the centuries. as things stand, it just

part of me wishes dawntrail had a Lodi. someone deeply tied to the things we're gonna face in the future, yet so untethered from the world we live in that they can experience it all with fresh eyes, and they want to come with us. i wish that was the direction they took with Sphene.

questions. it somehow feels less ripe with potentiail than dawntrail did because it doesn't have the advantage of being "the first in a new saga" or whatever. it can't show us the same themes for the first time again because it'd lose all the impact. i'm curious to see what they do

other peoples dissatisfaction with the gameplay aside (which i'm not really feeling but it still matters), i don't really know what they can do to meaningfully continue off of the themes and characters DT introduced. i think Living Memory is such a strong ending that it doesn't warrant further

today's coworker had kindergarteners watch 15 minutes of kingdom hearts cutscenes bc she typed in "toy story 3 full movie". she cleaned the entire classroom with no reaction to sora being on the tv and only switched it once she was done. which was also right after the word 'xehanort' was said
