Horror is Queer. Duh! 🖤 🏳️‍🌈 🖤

It doesn't get more obvious than this. But as a gay therapist I couldn't resist putting my own personal spin on the topic.

Check out my newest article on why I find the link between Queerness and horror so powerful.

Horror is Queer — Welcome Connections
‘Queer’ is a fascinating word. It lives in the murky in-between world of language where context is everything. To some it is a compliment. To others an insult. It can be empowering or painful dependin...

Not a bad spot to get some writing in… 🛥️ ✍️ 🛥️
I’ve seen 4/8 of these picks from Matty. How many have you seen?
When it comes to curation, Matt Orozco, Editor in Chief of @macabredaily.bsky.social knows a thing or two about horror, and is chiming in with some of his favorite frights on @shudder.com !

From NIGHTBREED to DEMONS, this mix is as eclectic as Macabre Daily itself!

Let’s keep our horror on theme with vacation this week.

Now watching in its homeland of Martha’s Vineyard.
This is my fighting style.
That is true. It happens. Just wish it happened more. There are sooooo many short films being shown at every film festival that then get lost in the ether.
Haha. Agreed. I’m skeptical of the whites. But I’ll try anything twice. 🤷‍♂️
5 more days until my Martha’s Vineyard (aka Amityville Island) vacation. Can’t wait to bust these open on the island.

So excited to watch Jaws on location for its 50th anniversary. 🦈 🖤🦈
Naive question about film distribution. Why aren’t more studios collecting some of the amazing short films out there and releasing them as features or physical media in anthology format? Seems like it would be so easy (and relatively cheap?) to do. Maybe just not considered profitable enough? 🤷‍♂️
Oh wow. This is super upsetting to read. I’m so sorry you had to have that exhausting conversation.

Really appreciate you sharing this. I’m running around between appointments right now but promise I’ll find some time to properly absorb it all later.

wish I could say I was surprised these days…
@xghorror.bsky.social and @sharai.bsky.social have you seen “Binary” yet? It’s really good and (I think) a really nuanced and respectful look at characters who are sex workers. One of my favorites of the year.
Happily doing some homework in advance of my interview with @troyescamilla.bsky.social tomorrow!

You are a true hero and a scholar.
I absolutely loved this conversation with filmmaker @joefria.bsky.social about his upcoming feature film "Shadows of Willow Cabin".

This is what queer horror is all about folks! Be sure to keep an eye out for it in the future! Check out the interview on @macabredaily.bsky.social

It’s a really fun one! Have you read the book?
I find the plot and characters interesting enough. But not sure if it’s my TV, but it’s so dark. I can barely see what’s happening during most of the tense scenes. And the pacing seems really erratic so far.
Why isn’t this just being called a new season of “Slasher”?
