main reason why i so, so much enjoyed hornet's down attack being the dive and not the hollow knight swing. it puts it so far apart from hollow knight instantly, and i loved that! even if it's hard to get used to and feels weird at first

wish spamming it wasn't optimal for speedruns though :c (/lh)

Trying to make a sequel that is "everything from the first game but better" feels like a really risky move. If anything, I think it might be good to purposely leave in some reasons for people to prefer one over the other.

When a sequel to a game comes out (Silksong, Hades 2, Legends Z-A, Spelunky 2 etc.) and there's some people who prefer the first game, I don't necessarily see that as a failure of the sequel.

To me, it's sort of a good thing, because it can be a sign that there's experimentation between entries.
