whoa and some geography as well! someone mentions going over some mountains to get to paldea. makes sense, what with this being the equivalent of going from france to spain. still, this is the first time since kanto/johto where two regions are confirmed to be on the same continent!

slowly piecing together pokemon timeline stuff.... there's at least one NPC who seems to indicate the whole team flare incident was five years ago, and there's also an NPC who references the "unbeatable" leon being defeated, so i guess 5 years (or less) separates XY and SwSh. where's alola fit in?

i kinda feel this, honestly. most games have me agonizing over my starter's nickname for anywhere up to an hour

this time i just kinda winged it. i know meganium has a big flower and the first french thing to pop into my mind was "fleur-de-lis" so i named my chikorita Lee (spelled for clarity)

my eventually-successful attempts to catch abra have taught me that gamefreak has learned from legends arceus, and you're no longer allowed to get backstrikes on pokemon that have broken free of a ball already. if you don't nail it the first time, it ain't gonna get any easier

taking a short break for lunch but i've captured everything in area 1 and exploring through the small area i'm currently allowed to (urbain hasn't fully set me loose yet) has gotten me encounters with abra, flabébé, and kakuna!
