Where other councils have closed #libraries in the face of #austerity, I'm proud that not only has Hounslow kept all our libraries open, we're enhancing them into Community Hubs where residents can come and get vital advice and services. And borrow a book. The first new hub opened yesterday.

I never met my grandmother, Mumtaz Shirin. Sadly she passed away before I was born. But she was a pioneer of Urdu literature in the then newborn nation of Pakistan, and it's wonderful to hear how fondly she's still remembered by journalists. It turns out I'm a nepobaby in Pakistan!
