London born, long term resident in Italy. Was an architect, once, but not in the way you'd think! Serious interests are many, but often political. Silly interests are cats and Formula 1!

@wulfhelm.bsky.social A repost of this would be appreciated. Unfortunately I can't provide a link to the page that shows the actual petition as the website doesn't allow it unless 5 people have signed it.

What's good for the goose... petition.parliament.uk/petitions/74...

So I have signed, and I see that three other Blueskyers have also mentioned that they have signed, so that's four signatures already.
Surely it's only seconds before you have got your five!

I have the same problem!! Which is why I bring up 'TV guide' whenever I open the iPlayer.

Indeed, but it's normally my Monday must watch!
I am quite discombobulated by finding it on a Tuesday.

Definitely worth a read, especially if (like me) you had never heard of Sir Michael Marmot.

1888 is a bit ahead of it's time (imo), really lovely picture.

I'm so sorry. I luxuriate in being a nothing-burger poster, so I don't suffer these imbecilic attacks.

Really? He was described as a semi house-trained polecat, and a Chingford skinhead in his time - I think we had his measure back then!

"where there were already human beings, and proceeded to treat them like inferior animals" - with that I completely agree and this it was what Thatcher did to communities in her own country, but (as a Brit) I don't see the 'colonizing' analogy.

Her utter heartlessness wasn't limited to her war on the mining communities. Her brutal emphasis on 'what you earn defines you' destroyed any notion of solidarity even in middle class areas.

Not really, it was Thatcher and Reagan's dedication to monetarism which was (IMO) the mistake - it was destined to be a disaster for any country at any time (others will disagree).

I hadn't read the whole of the thread! It is quite extraordinary the skills expected of random 'beauticians'!

Perhaps it depends on how quickly and how long your eyebrows grow ...

I lunched today (in Italy, cheap place) with an approx 80 year old American woman friend who was a tiny bit disturbed by the waiter touching her on the shoulder.
It's just an unfamiliar culture thing afaik - we make too much of it - there is no difficulty in living in harmony.

Indeed, retrofit is always more expensive and less efficient. However, the dwindling social housing stock isn't being replaced, and even finding the funds for retrofit is challenging.

I'm just wondering whether cat hair clogs up 'manual' keyboards as efficiently as it manoeuvres itself under laptop keys ...
