I was a physicist, once. Ms./Miss. I try to be kind, despite overflowing with snark. From Utah, but currently in Juleptown.

So, SCOTUS declined to do a thing that would have been both stupid and a Very Bad Sign. I’m going to calibrate my enthusiasm.

The absolute foolishness of this. My lord.

For years and years, I thought Gordon Lightfoot and Stan Rogers were the same person. (More exactly, I thought The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and Northwest Passage were sung by the same guy.)

I’m so dejected at the profound misunderstanding of how the U.S. federal appeals system works. I mean, IANAL, but I know when “no, you can’t pursue a loser suit” does not mean “yeah, we’re not going to reconsider that thing that almost everyone but us likes.”

Automated voice menu systems (not to mention AI driven ones) are not friendly to octogenarians. I guess pretty much nothing in this world is built with octogenarians in mind, really.

I’m back. No Lutherans were harmed (by me) this evening.
If you stop seeing posts from me on Sunday evening, it will be because I have been jailed for having done unpleasant things to one or more Lutherans. (The sitch within my congr and with folks at the synod office got even more complicated this afternoon and I’m damn close to a full-on gasket failure)

People with heart conditions deserve a warning before stoppage time starts. The possibility of shocking stoppage-time game-changing goals is just too great in this league.

I hate to quibble, but pictures of Allied troops on D-Day are not the best illustration of the idea of Antifa. If we thought many people could recognize pictures of the Lincoln Brigade, those would be better.

Obviously the BREAD part is top-of-mind in the U.S. right now. But don’t forget the ROSES! 🌹
Bread and roses, bread and roses!

Give material support (as you are able) to people who need it. And also find ways to bring kindness and beauty into the lives of those around you.

Every chance they have to say “The Democrats are starving children,” they instead double down on “Let’s starve more children’s to Own the Libs.”

I am mortified to report that I just saw a clip of an interview with James Carville and he said something very smart that I agree with. (I’m sure I would revert to my usual loathing if I watched the whole thing. But I didn’t.)

Louisville did themselves proud today. Really looked good. Not “upset the 2nd seed” good, but definitely “so much more solid than we began the season” and “yes, we deserved that playoff berth” good.
