We built this game trailer in Unreal Engine 5.4 with a small team and a tight schedule. I handled all the rendering locally using Lumen, which saved us a ton of time and budget. Most updates were turned around the same day. Some, within 30 minutes. This is an older straight reskin test to understand video to video and the limitations. These days Im starting to properly test this stuff out on a personal project with both live-action shots and renders Method was Runway Gen-3 Alpha, which are higher quality than Gen-3 Alpha Turbo, but theres plenty of morphing, though surprising that the faces are so good. Need to test Gen-4. #RunwayML #AIVideo #CreativeTech #VirtualProduction #FilmmakingTools

The director wanted to rack focus to Ra in this shot, but the depth of field made it feel like a miniature. So I went another route. Took a note from Roger Deakins and added a soft blur around the edges in comp. It kept the eye on Ra without breaking the shot. Sometimes the original note isn’t the answer. But the problem it points to still needs solving. We made this trailer in 20 weeks with a crew of around 10. I stepped in a few months in and took it from previs to final. Environments, characters, lighting, comp, edit—everything but the last bit of animation and FX. It was intense, but the work was worth it. Wrote up a breakdown if you want to see how it all came together: https://www.safariandfelix.com/blog/how-we-made-the-godforge-game-cinematic-using-ue5 #GameCinematics #UnrealEngine #VirtualProduction #PostProduction #IndieVFX #CinematicTrailer #Compositing #EnvironmentArt #CGProduction #BehindTheScenes #Godforge #Filmmaking #RealTimeRendering #AnimationPipeline #DavinciResolve #UE5
