Anyway, mice and ravens and even chocolate aside, it's remarkable how long a memory of an unexpected special pleasure will linger.

I remember a class where the prof shared around a box of chocolate mice. I have no memory of any explanation being offered, but I remember how lovely it felt as a gesture towards us. I bought myself a box once as a treat, but now I see they do RAVENS? www.burdickchocolate.com/products/rav...
Chocolate Ravens & Acorns
Our newest Halloween creature presented in a gorgeously illustrated gift box: Dark Chocolate Raven. Inspired by the superstition of the Tower of London ravens and accompanied by their cache of Acorns,...

The plantar fasciitis hit me this summer for the first time and I am so TIRED of this bullshit, what do you MEAN every step might be painful forever??

The ending of @freyamarske.bsky.social’s Cinder House has turned me absolutely feral, what a fantastic spin on a familiar story.

I feel like many of our mutual game playing friends are not exactly in the mood for games about losing family right now???
sadcypress.bsky.social
Including ME, I want to play it (hint hint to all my friends).

This game is gorgeous and sad and tremendously moving and a beautiful physical object, everybody should have a chance to play it.

I think that’s such a fundamental part of college, though! Sometimes there’s a feast and sometimes not, but that thrill of getting to take a class about something really exciting to you remains regardless—plus, I bet a lot of the most excited students got to partake this semester, too. It evens out!

I think it’s going to work like a sauce reduction- focusing your teaching energy into one course will only intensify the flavor and the students will love it.

I’ve rarely been more excited to click a link.

The way that people would OBSESSIVELY try to de-lovebug their cars!! They’d be spattered all OVER the front bumpers and smeared across windshields bc self-preservation was nowhere near as important to these little guys as self-gratification!

The way I went to Wikipedia to see if Anne Rice was REALLY from Louisiana when I was maybe 75 pages into the first book, bc I was like, no one from here would ACTUALLY write like this about these places SURELY…

They don’t bite, they don’t carry disease, they just love bonking each other SO MUCH. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lovebug

Picture a slim, black bug half an inch long with an orangey red little bulb behind its head, but they ONLY COME OUT TO FUCK, and so you find them joined BUTT TO BUTT as they fly around and they are too involved in their lovemaking to get out of the way of cars so they are on everyone’s windshield.

Sometimes I remember the existence of lovebugs, insects that emerge, plague-like, and are only ever seen slowly flying around while conjoined in the throes of mating, and the way they were SUCH a feature of my life growing up, but are entirely absent from where I live now.

I have a prayer card for Pope Francis that I keep in my church music binder, and every now and then, he pokes his head out to say hello in the most charming fashion.
Photo of an open three ring binder in poor condition, zoomed into the inside left hand cover. A battered sheet of music is in the clear pocket, but from behind, you can see the cheerful face of Pope Francis on a small card, poking out from behind the music.

My favorite part of the last few days was when I called up my beloved LCBS to make sure I had it preordered and they were like, “Emily. Of course you do. We know how you feel about @kierongillen.bsky.social’s work.”

Last time I DM’d, I somehow broke Roll20 enough that I had a wee breakdown and we ended with an agreement that the session had never happened. Tomorrow, we meet again. Have I fixed our map yet? No. Am I prepared to DM better? Absolutey no. It’s going to be interesting.

I saw the photos of the procession today and boy howdy, the meaning of that choice resonated like I was the bell being struck.

My favorite parts of going to the Renaissance Faire is being there with my friends and seeing the amazing diversity of people in killer outfits of all kids, but the next best part is when I make it home and get to collapse on my couch.

the Nobel Peace Prize committee going “yeah we felt like recognizing opposition leaders who resist authoritarianism was important right now for whatever reason” somehow feels like Trump won -1 Nobel Peace Prizes

like he somehow has one even less than he did before, despite never having had one
