in 2012, you could get your halloween burrito at chipotle for $2. now that same 'deal' is for a $6 burrito, which is nearly what the menu price for a chicken burrito was back in 2012.

the hardest #positron / vscode-style-shortcut for me to remember, so far, has been ctrl +k, c to comment/uncomment blocks of code

Hey, #databs and #rstats - would you forgive me using these hashtags to ask for help finding a new area to live? My husband and I need an affordable farm-ish to move to in the #NewEngland area! Where do you love to live?!

We need >= 1 acre + access to medical, & can't afford to live near the coast

is shinyapps.io deprecated to make way for Connect Cloud? I'm used to publishing to shinyapps from RStudio but just realized that it's not available in #positron right now.

remember when it felt like we heard talks about the ethical use of machine learning for like half a decade and then LLMs came out and the industry was like "jk"

A month or two ago someone posted a link to their really amazing set of LLM system instructions for writing #rstats code with good tidy/NSE patterns. (They were also good for humans!) Does anyone recall who or where that was?

Whoever came up with the 'Copilot' branding must've been the same person that coined 'Redwood National and State Parks'. Constantly explaining the difference between M365 Copilot, Github Copilot, and now Azure OpenAI Copilot endpoints is tiresome.

#rstats question! Now that {purrr} has built-in support for parallelization with {mirai} and in_parallel(), should we still be using {furrr} and future_map()? Or is the best practice going forward going to be purrr::in_parallel()?

I'm really curious to what thoughts on this are. I do feel like the shiny ecosystem has a 'missing middle' when it comes to apps that aren't quite for a full enterprise but also require a bit more setup than shinyapps.io can offer. #databs #rstats #datascience

I have a single R Shiny application to deploy that needs secured database connections and user authentication.

shinyapps. io can't do both, and I have feeling Posit Connect Cloud is gonna charge too much for just for SSO.

What do folks here think about Shiny Server vs Shiny Proxy instead? #rshiny

NWSTampaBay tweeted that Tampa broke the 100F barrier. in 135 years of record keeping, Tampa proper has never hit that mark before due some geographic quirks of the city, but that streak ends now. It's horrifying to see these records continually, and increasingly becoming broken.
