I'm really proud of the way this Stanev Potts project at 23rd and Manning in Center City Philadelphia turned out. Though small, it touches on a lot of issues very important to me in architecture and development.
no, I haven't! where should I look? the building is so enormous!
Once again, the three most important things about urban housing: acoustics, acoustic, acoustics.
yes, they talk about her, Diane Hartley. In the Veritasium telling, there's no question that she found the flaw and raised the issue with the firm. But someone else, Lee DeCarolis, claims to be the student who talked on the phone to LeMessurier. Hartley never claimed she did.
I thought I wouldn't enjoy Veritasium's story of the Citicorp Tower in NYC *almost* falling over. It's a story they teach in architecture school, and I heard it the first time in the 2000s in undergrad. But it's really worth watching - tons of detail I never knew.

Mayor of Paris: "Our streets are gradually being reintroduced to residents, new trees are being planted, and walks are being made easier and safer."
Notre ville change ! Nos rues sont peu à peu rendues aux habitants, de nouveaux arbres sont plantés et les promenades facilitées et sécurisées.

C'est le cas de la rue Chaptal dans le 9e ou celle du Docteur-Lecène dans le 13e !

And acoustics are often a struggle to convince clients and contractors to take seriously.
Some fun lakefront tourism architecture in Gyeongju, South Korea.
Sci-fi Gamer aesthetic. Angled planes and chamfers chunked up to fake out a military tech vibe.
Philly’s little strip of lawlessness known as the Broad Street median.
Was working just now in my backyard, heard the roar. Check my phone and Harper homered.
A perk to living where I do in deep south Philly: anytime the Phillies do something great, you can faintly hear the stadium roar if the windows are open.
and our own local history not helping. I just recently read this 1999 report on the history of the wage tax out of my own curiosity after the company I work for opened a 2nd office in the burbs.

Stavros Halkias said something similar on his podcast recently that's been bouncing around my head ever since: People generally undervalue the importance of just having a good time.

Massive northbound delays on SEPTA B1. Overheard someone saying he’s been waiting since 6:55, over half an hour ago. No explanations on the platform or the website.
