Secretly delighted not to have a place in next year’s Dublin Marathon. I’m already signed up to a small ultra (still haven’t told ‘er indoors yet) & I also got a place in the Great North Run for the first time. So for someone who doesn’t enter formal events, next year is already busy #RunningPunks

“Watch out for the old person running there” said the coach of the university running club to his runners as I passed by their training session yesterday evening. What a pr!ck! I put it down to the fact that I was in the 7 min/km recovery stage of my sprints and the 3 min/km stage #RunningPunks

Back in God’s own country of North Yorkshire for a brief visit so got a chance to do some proper trail running early this morning. There was snow, ice, mud and all the other good things. Definitely under-dressed for the conditions but it was such a lovely run. #RunningPunks #Running

Luckily I can draw on my vast experience of no previous ultras and years of mostly flat road running.
I seem to have accidentally on-purpose signed up for a trail ultra marathon (after a single glass of wine). I only logged on to the site to see if it was happening this year & was caught off guard by the fact that registration was open and not full up. Don't know how/when I'm going to tell the wife!

It’s that time of year when I get caught out by the time change. Started my ‘afternoon’ run in the twilight but came back an hour later in the pitch black. #RunningPunks

Watching a dodgy horror film on prime video (‘The Breach’). I thought ‘wow that chap looks just like Alex Lifeson, the guitarist from Rush’. Just checked the credits and it is! Not only that, but the film is directed by Slash! Rock’n roll royalty #WhoKnew
