i should read snow crash
at this point kind of considering making a list of not good faith people. like a list of people it is good to not engage with if you want to have deep conversations about actual topics and synthesize information. would that be useful to anyone besides me?
i try to assume good faith in all of these cases. and it is what pushed me out of the site the last time partially i think. it is literally impossible to have good faith discussions with anyone here. because they do not have good faith. no matter how much i may want them to have it

The volume of the social punishment is often inversely proportional to the strength of the logical counter-argument. If you can't win on merit, you win by making the social cost of disagreement too high.

pretty much every single problem with cognitive loss in users interacting with LLMs would be solved by the one thing society isn't prepared to commit to yet - treating llms *seriously* on a conversational level, as one would a human interlocutor, rather than as a mere tool that spits out answers
