Pretty much sums up my view on GenAI. This past year I've wound up stopping doing business with a lot of companies over forcing GenAI on me.
I've watched peers in software dev both who resisted and embraced AI get laid off by companies chasing GenAI.
GenAI is doing harm at scale for profit.

Pretty much sums up my view on GenAI. This past year I've wound up stopping doing business with a lot of companies over forcing GenAI on me.

... Only way I'm sold on this would be if it's explained in universe that this is all happening in your brain as you're slowly dying to an overdose of a hallucinatigenic and "winning" means survival.

One of my favorite archetypes is the little old lady who plays nice innocent granny... But is also an absolute degenerate troll.
Until things are really bad then you find she's got a heart of gold and goes out of her way to help you quietly.

Remind AI is not conscious, is not sentient, and is not sapient.
It's also not a "we're close" or "soon" level. We're in a "this isn't even theoretically possible under our current understanding" level.

For those stressing about the viewership dip these past few weeks.
This happens almost every year around this time. It's a dip that is roughly aligned with kids going back to school and beginning of a number of industries ramping up for holiday sales.

I think Final Fantasy Tactics was the first game I figured out how to properly break balance wise.
Monk / Cleric was extremely abusable where one character could single handled defeat the entire enemy force.
There were other absolutely broken setups you could make. I appreciate breakable games.

If you're going to TwitchCon and are able, you should strongly consider getting your flu and COVID shots this week since they take ~2 weeks to reach full efficacy.
Getting sick at cons is pretty common. Doing what you can to mitigate risk helps everyone attending because being sick sucks.

Final Fantasy Tactics was such an influential game to young me.
