As someone who attended public school K-8 and now has kids in them, his comments confused ME. I understand the DOE system, but I can’t imagine what people unfamiliar with CEC meetings or without kids thought of it.
Local NYC reporters should moderate all debates. National included.
This answer from Sliwa was significantly better than Cuomo’s and I am wildly surprised and at the same time not, because Sliwa was actually in NYC during its hardest years (which are definitively NOT now).
Sliwa calls for not prosecuting sex workers but for prosecuting “the madames and johns” and the absentee landlords who own buildings that sex workers operate out of – so basically the Nordic model.
“Harassment and intimidation are illegal” - Andrew Cuomo

Seems sus coming from you… ya know… considering your own track record of harassing and intimidating women and others….

We're 30 minutes into this debate and no one has asked a single question about education, transit, policing, housing, etc etc
As a Jewish New Yorker, can I humbly ask the moderators of this debate to ask the candidates about their city policies, not their foreign policies?
Agreed. He was polling abysmally and his name is still on the ballot. So it changes next to nothing. It just means his donors abandoned him and his campaign is broke.
So, the New York Times totally told Bloomberg that, after the comment section got out of control, they couldn’t publish another column like Ezra’s from last week, and he decided to self-publish it instead. Right?
In Dark Times, Americans Need Leadership That Unites
Our response to Charlie Kirk’s assassination must be better.

I gotta give them props, the opening to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was pretty good. 👇
In short, Alex Bores has been doing the leg work on both sides of the district, Micah Lasher less so.
This week, I was out w/Manhattan District Leaders. The East Side DLs had either never met or only briefly interacted with Lasher, while the West Side DLs knew Bores well and liked him, even if they planned to support Lasher later. This aligns with my experience with voters on both sides of the park.
NEW: An open Congressional seat at the heart of Manhattan.

Media elites, a Kennedy heir, billionaires, & many ambitious pols are in the mix to succeed Jerry Nadler.

Yet, the story of the race won't be Trump, Israel, or Socialism — but West vs. East.

Pundits are focusing on Kirk’s willingness to debate people while studiously ignoring the people whose basic humanity he was willing to debate
The lionization of Charlie Kirk genuinely proves the point about centrists and leading media figures. The man dehumanized women, minorities, transgendered people, Muslims, etc was building bridges by debating others on these views that all these people are less than human. What a great guy.

Wild how political alliance with Zionism sweeps all sorts of wild statements about Jews under the table
Kirk said that Jewish people control “not just the colleges; it’s the nonprofits, it’s the movies, it’s Hollywood, it’s all of it.” Kirk also said ”the number one funding mechanism of radical, open border, neoliberal, quasi-Marxist policies, cultural institutions, and nonprofits" is “Jewish donors.” Claims that wealthy Jewish people and donors control major institutions and Hollywood are common antisemitic tropes. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) on the shooting of Charlie Kirk:

"Political violence, unfortunately, has ramped up in this country ... I think there are people who are fomenting it in this country. I think the president's rhetoric often foments it."
In a shocking turn of events, all 3 escalators are up and running at the 72nd St Q Station for the first time maybe ever.

The New Yorker asked me “how bad” today’s Supreme Court ruling was. I boiled it down to one paragraph:

link.newyorker.com/view/5bda429...
"Just the other day, I was in the audience at Lincoln Center when Justice Amy Coney Barrett said, while promoting a new book, that she doesn't think the United States is in a constitutional crisis," Farias told us. "Today, the Supreme Court, without offering a single line of reasoning, more or less declared that the Fourth Amendment, which protects everyone from unreasonable searches and seizures, nonetheless allows the Trump Administration to arrest and detain anyone who looks Latino, citizen or not, on account of the language that they speak or the kind of jobs they do. The ruling putatively covers the Los Angeles area, but the effect could be national," he continued.
"If that's not a constitutional crisis, then what is?"
As a lifelong Yankee fan: Fuck Mark Teixeira.
Mark Teixeira, former Yankees star, is running for Congress in Texas.

Coming out swinging as full on fash. Cool cool cool.

“As a lifelong conservative who loves this country, I’m ready to fight for the principles that make Texas strong and America exceptional. It takes teamwork to win, and I’m ready to help defend President Trump’s America First agenda, Texas families, and individual liberty."
This is actually horrifying @nytimes.com. We CAN prevent it. And the fact that you and the gun lobby seem to do everything in your power to keep weapons of war on our streets instead of protecting people is beyond fucked.
Janno Lieber is a legend.
